Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a scouting season last?

Typically from August through May (but we have activities in summer too!) So: Fall, Winter, Spring — and Summer if you want!

Can girls join?

Yes! Our pack allows boys and girls to experience the fun in scouting.

How much is registration and what does it cover?

Around $85 paid to BSA for national dues for registration and insurance.
Dues paid to the Pack are $180 (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) or $100 (AOL).
Pack dues help cover facilities, camping, events, books, awards, and the pack t-shirt.

Pack dues can be reduced with scout involvement in the popcorn fundraiser.

What kind of commitment do I need to make?

There is typically 1 Pack meeting a month (scout & parent at Church of Woodforest) and 2 Den meetings a month (scout at designated den meeting area). Both meetings usually last 1 hour.

Scouting is a family adventure! We need help of any kind to keep the movement going.

Are there other monthly commitments?

We usually have 1 walking/trail/activity per month – or it coincides with another event – see our schedule for the year. We like to be active and love to help our community!

How will my child benefit from scouts?

Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that carry into their adult lives. (And it gets them away from the digital screens.)

Are there fundraisers?

We currently have 1 or more fundraisers scheduled through the BSA association. Popcorn starts in August. The fundraiser is essential to covering the cost of the program.
